The Astronomical Observatory at the Uppsala University
In July 2000 our observatory moved to a new location at the Ångström Laboratory facility (lower left)
where, together with the old Space & Plasma Physics institute, it now is part of the new Department of Physics and Astronomy.
Previously the observatory was based at the "Old" Uppsala Astronomical Observatory.
The old UAO building (lower right) is located in the pleasant "Observatoriepark" close to the
centre of Uppsala. Despite no scientific research taking place at the old observatory nowadays, the building is
preserved for its historical value and still hosts amateur astronomy activities. During the winter
Uppsala astronomers organize open nights at the 'old' telescope for the general public.
