DPS MercuryWatch

By Ann Sprague, 20 Oct 1998

The first Mercury Watch meeting at DPS had good attendance
and enthusiasm.

Johan Warell agreed to maintain a Mercury Watch web page
where observers can post observing dates and objectives, and generally
exchange news and information.

Johan's email address is:
Johan.Warell@astro.uu.se

Alan Stern informed the group that DS1 may be able to make
Mercury observations. DS1 is equipped with spectrographs
in UV VIS and near-ir. One good measurement in each
wavelength could increase our knowledge of Mercury significantly!

Ann Sprague pointed out available time on the Mt. Lemmon 60 inch
and the Mt. Bigelow 61 inch and encouraged people to get
instruments and make use of the telescopes. Perhaps
instrument people that did not attend the meeting could
send information to Johan and he can post it
on the Mercury Watch website.

Below is information from the sign-in sheet that was circulated.
It was generally agreed that we can be more effective as Mercury
advocates by organizing, communicating, and sharing goals for
Mercury observations and, yes, mission(s).

If these messages are "getting pesky" and you would like to
be removed from the email list, just send me a brief message
so stating!
