NEWS:

The symposium is over and we in the LOC and the SOC are very pleased with the event. We thank all the participants for making this a very fruitful, pleasant, and memorable week.
We also remind the speakers to submit their manuscripts before July 18, see Proceedings for templates and instructions.

We also plan to put up a set of links to digital photos recorded during the Symposium week. The participants are welcome to submit links to their photos to the LOC: loc2008(AT)astro.uu.se

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Uppsala University will host a symposium on the occasion of Bengt Gustafsson's 65th birthday, to be held in Uppsala on June 23-27, 2008. The conference will address the current status and knowledge in the field of stellar astrophysics, especially atmospheres, spectroscopy, evolution, nucleosynthesis and populations. One session will also be dedicated to the interface between science and culture.

Due to limited space the symposium is restricted to invited participants. The proceedings will be published in Physica Scripta.

The conference is supported by Uppsala University, the Section of Physics of the Faculty of Science & Technology, and the Department of Physics & Astronomy.
