THE NUMBER DENSITY OF ASTEROIDS
The number density of asteroids varies as a function of the mean distance from the Sun as shown by Lagerkvist and Lagerros (Astron. Nachr. 318, 391-393). In the figures below are shown an updated version of the figures in this paper derived from the 3535 asteroids with absolute magnitudes smaller than, or equal to H=12, found in the data base from the Minor Planet Center, including data for all numbered and multi opposition asteroids.
