Viking Ships

Roskilde, Denmark

The five ships in the Viking Ship Museum at Roskilde were sunk on purpose in Roskilde Fjord around 1000 A.D. to form a barrier to protect the city of Roskilde against attacks by Norwegian Vikings.

Both pictures show Wreck No. 3, a typical small merchant ship; length 13.3 m, beam 3.3 m, depth 1.6 m, 4-6 crew members
