1st VALD3-VAMDC meeting
Meeting took place in Vienna Institute of Astronomy on September 16-19, 2009

Agenda:
1. Preparation of the VALD3 data content.
T. Ryabchikova presented the new data the we expect to be contributed to the VALD3. The amount of data calls for automation of the work related to the parsing of the input (primarily ASCII tables), verification of the format and conversion of the sensible data into the binary records according to the VALD3 standard. N. Piskunov proposed to develop such tool based on a simple but flexible description data file and a code to do the work. Ch. Stuez will also contribute to this work.
2. Sharing the work and the tools between the VALD3 and the VAMDC
W. Weiss suggested that Th. Lueftinger will collect the information from all DBs participating in VAMDC about data content, data formats, data access and extraction tools. This census of DBs could be a basis for a generic VAMDC-DB interface.
3. The role of VALD3 in VAMDC
The proposal is to use VALD3 is the most complex and voluminous example and focus the first year VAMDC development around VALD. This also requires More active efforts from the VALD3 team to complete the new release by the end of Summer 2010.
4. The rest of the workshop was dedicated to the assessment of the individual tasks for all the participants, sharing and testing ideas etc. Ch Stuez presented the new VALD server, its file structure and version control system. W. Weiss proposed to F. Kupka as the new Vienna coordinator after his retirement by the end of 2009.
