EXWINGS project and CO5BOLD code
Aims:
- Produce detailed 3D CO5BOLD models of AGB star atmospheres,
the outer convection zone and the inner dust envelopes
- Investigate the role of convection and spatial inhomogeneities
- Generate input for 1D DARWIN models
- Determine mass-loss rates
CO5BOLD code properties:
- Setup: global "star-and-wind-in-a-box" RHD simulations
- Domain: 3D Cartesian box with fine inner and coarse outer grid
- Non-local radiation transport on inner grid; local cooling/heating on outer grid
- Non-grey opacity tables
- Hydrodynamics: Roe solver
- Central potential; heating in small inner region
- Dust: amorphous Mg2SiO4 (not "forsterite"),
with radiative acceleration
- Sticking coefficient: αstick = 1.0, 0.1, 0.01
