Canes Venatici is a circumpolar constellation between Bootes and Ursa Major without particularly bright stars. In quite modern time Canes Venatici have been associated with Bootes, but there is no counter part in greek mythology. This part of the sky is rich in galaxies but telescopes are needed to see them. One of the brightest globular clusters, M3 can on the other hand be found as a faint dot close to the lowest constellation border.
