Serpens Caput is a part of the constellation Serpens, which is situated on the equator. Serpens Caput is almost entirely in the northern sky. In greek mythology the snake guarded the Oracle of Delphi and it is directly connected to Ophiuchus. Serpens Caput can be seen before dawn in January/February, or earlier in the morning/night during the rest of the winter and spring. During August/September it can be seen in the evening but then lower in the sky towards SW. The globular cluster M5 is clearly seen in this image.
